The daughter of Elias Barns who settled in Iowa Thomas after his first wife lived one year in sciota township then moved to emit township Thomas purchased a portion of his present farm in 1868 he then owned 126 acres of well improved land and has a desirable home.
Mr. Thomas Mankin Simmons tock active interest in politics Thomas was a member of the replican party; Thomas held the fallowing offices of township, supervisor collector and school director
Mrs. Simmons was a woman of fine education & formerly a teacher. They both were active members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
